Senior Machinist

POSITION TITLE: Machinist Level III

DEPARTMENT: Machine Shop

REPORTS TO: Machining Lead

PAY TYPE: Hourly

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The selected candidate will primarily operate during the second shift, with potential for overtime as required. This role necessitates close collaboration with colleagues to ensure the production of high-quality components in a safe manner.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The essential duties include:

• Developing, reviewing, and refining machine programs for 2-axis lathes and mills utilizing Gibbs Cam Programming.
• Engaging in new part development, assessing and implementing modification requests, and enhancing existing programs or tooling.
• Interpreting part and die specifications; adjusting machine speeds and feeds while selecting suitable tooling.
• Collaborating with Design Engineers and Quality Assurance personnel to confirm that components meet the dimensional specifications outlined in the drawings, while ensuring the final product adheres to established quality standards.
• Managing consumable inventory to avert delays in forthcoming orders.
• Providing troubleshooting support alongside fellow operators.
• Operating machinery and adhering to the production schedule.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• A minimum of 10 years of programming experience is preferred.
• Proficient in CAD/CAM software with a fundamental understanding of GD&T.
• Strong mathematical skills are essential.
• A willingness to learn and a positive attitude are crucial.
• A broad comfort zone is highly desirable.

SCOPE:

This position reports directly to the Operations Manager.
