Job Summary:We are looking for a compassionate and experienced Nurse Practitioner to provide direct psychiatric evaluation, medical health assessment, and intervention to clients admitted to our Behavioral Health programs. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in psychiatric-mental health nursing and excellent communication skills.
Responsibilities:- Perform psychiatric evaluations of identified clients and provide medication management and assessment on an ongoing basis.
- Assess current administrative processes and clinical protocols, identifying opportunities for improvement relating to quality and cost while maintaining adherence to compliance and nursing standards of care.
- Provide consultation and education to other agencies and disciplines, including other VNS Health services.
- Evaluate need for physical evaluations and/or medical services and make referrals, as indicated.
- Provide full scope of advanced nursing practice for targeted client populations, evaluating client responses to therapy and interventions and ensuring revision of the inter-professional plan of care as necessary to achieve quality outcomes.
- Collaborate with program management to ensure the provision of the highest quality behavioral health services to clients.
- Participate in the formulation and update of clinical and administrative policies and procedures and the preparation of policy and procedure manuals.
- License and current registration to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in New York State required.
- Board Certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner within one year in role required.
- DEA license required.
- Valid driver's license may be required, as determined by operational/regional needs.
- Minimum of three years of clinical experience in treating clients in a behavioral health setting.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong computer literacy, including use of electronic systems for clinical record keeping.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
