Job Description

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Multidisciplined Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our Propulsion Plant Team Trainer (PPTT) Programs & Engineering (PPE) subdivision, you will be responsible for designing, fabricating, assembling, installing, testing, and delivering a full-scale propulsion plant hardware simulator to support the Next Generation Training Program (NGTP).

As a Multidisciplined Engineer, you will work on a variety of projects, including PPTT components and modules, the interactive portion of the simulated environment, electrical and systems engineering of the trainer and supporting infrastructure, PPTT Integration, and project management of all related work efforts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and conduct independent work efforts throughout the project lifecycle
  • Interface with stakeholders to ensure project objectives are being met
  • Perform design reviews and technical interchanges with Suppliers as well as internal NNL stakeholders
  • Review and disposition Supplier design submittals to validate designs based on technical requirements
  • Support on-site hardware inspections and testing of production equipment at Supplier facilities and remote NNL sites

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or science related field; or Master's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or science related field
  • Experience with SolidWorks or equivalent 3D modeling software
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to think creatively and make recommendations to senior project personnel
  • Ability to work independently or in a group setting
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products

Pay Range: $62,000.00 - $94,900.00 annually

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is operated for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) by Fluor Marine Propulsion, LLC (FMP), a wholly owned subsidiary of Fluor Corporation. Naval Nuclear Laboratory personnel are FMP employees who work at four DOE facilities: Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory, Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory, Kenneth A. Kesselring Site, and Naval Reactors Facility, and at the U.S. Department of Defense-owned Nuclear Power Training Unit-Charleston.

FMP employees also have an established presence at numerous shipyards and vendor locations. For nearly 70 years, the Naval Nuclear Laboratory has developed advanced nuclear propulsion technology, provided technical support, and trained world-class nuclear operators to ensure the safe and reliable operation of our nation's submarine and aircraft carrier Fleets.

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is a national asset solely dedicated to the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program. We rely on the dedication and innovation of our nearly 8000 engineers, scientists, technicians, and support personnel.
