Danville, Virginia, United States State of Virginia Full time
Overview

The State of Virginia's Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS) is committed to promoting recovery, self-determination, and wellness in all aspects of life. Our mission is to support individuals with mental illness, intellectual disabilities, or substance use disorders by providing high-quality services and supports.

We are seeking a dedicated Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our team at the Southern Virginia Mental Health Institute (SVMHI). This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic environment that prioritizes patient-centered care and employee satisfaction.

Job Description

As an LPN at SVMHI, you will be responsible for providing advanced nursing care for patients with psychiatric disorders. Your primary duties will include administering medications, conducting assessments, and developing individualized care plans. You will also be expected to safely implement the use of Seclusion/Restraints, taking into account physical and emotional risk factors associated with patient populations.

You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to ensure seamless communication and coordination of care. Additionally, you will have opportunities to participate in training programs, including BLS, Therapeutic Options (TO), and other relevant workshops to enhance your professional development.

Requirements

To be considered for this position, you must possess a valid LPN license in the Commonwealth of Virginia or be license eligible. A valid driver's license is also required. Experience working in a psychiatric healthcare facility, acute care setting, long-term care, or correctional environment is preferred but not mandatory.

We welcome applications from veterans, people with disabilities, and bilingual candidates who speak English and Spanish. As an equal opportunity employer, DBHDS encourages diversity and promotes a workplace culture that values inclusivity, respect, and empathy.

Benefits

As a valued member of our team, you will enjoy a competitive salary range of $52,004, negotiable based on relevant years of experience. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, you may be eligible for various incentives, including a $17,500 bonus for new hires who commit to remaining with the facility for two years, as well as a $10,000 sign-on bonus and $7,500 retention bonus for specific conditions met. We offer exceptional state benefits, including 13 paid holidays, 12+ paid vacation days, 8 paid sick days, and 4+ paid family/personal days per year. You will also receive low-cost health insurance, group life insurance, disability coverage, and flexible reimbursement accounts. Other benefits include referral bonuses, access to the Virginia 529 College Savings Plan, state employee discounts, and more.

Why Work with Us?

At DBHDS, we strive to create a positive work environment that fosters growth, teamwork, and job satisfaction. Our employees are encouraged to develop their skills, participate in training opportunities, and contribute to meaningful projects. Join us in making a difference in the lives of individuals with mental illness, intellectual disabilities, or substance use disorders.
