Job Title: Lead Mechanical Design Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Eastman Corporate Engineering team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading the execution of Mechanical Engineering scope of work for various large capital projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement project-specific Mechanical Engineering execution plans to ensure efficient and effective project execution.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to ensure seamless project integration and successful project delivery.
  • Lead and manage the execution of Mechanical Engineering scope of work at the selected engineering service provider in all phases (Pre-FEED, FEED and Detail Design).
  • Monitor and report actual progress and forecasting/check for discipline activities, including management of labor hours and delivered documents.
  • Lead the design and selection of stationary and rotating equipment, considering factors such as safety, reliability, maintainability, cost, and schedule.
  • Prepare and review engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents, ensuring compliance with industry standards, codes, and regulations.
  • Apply industry codes and standards relevant to the chemical industry, such as ASME, API, ANSI, and other applicable codes, in the design and evaluation of mechanical systems and equipment.
  • Oversee the procurement of mechanical equipment, ensuring adherence to project requirements and specifications.
  • Conduct thorough reviews and quality control checks to ensure compliance with design specifications and project requirements.
  • Utilize software tools and applications, such as Cesar, COMPRESS, SolidWorks, AVEVA Engineering or equivalent, to support mechanical engineering activities and enhance project efficiency.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in Mechanical Engineering field with focus on the chemical or petrochemical industry.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as lead mechanical engineer with experience in large capital projects execution.
  • Ability to mentor and develop less experienced team members.
  • Good written, listening, and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven experience in leading a project team of engineers, with excellent leadership and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with capital stage gate process and understanding of project execution.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to propose innovative and practical engineering solutions.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and standards related to mechanical engineering in the chemical industry.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus.
  • Open to travel as needed.
