Position: Crater I

The Crater I role is essential for the preparation and packaging of substantial and delicate products for distribution. This position operates during the second shift, from 2 PM to 10:30 PM.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Construct custom boxes, crates, or skids tailored for both domestic and international shipments.
  • Select appropriate materials for product protection and determine methods for securing items to prevent movement during transit.
  • Verify that all components are included by cross-referencing with bills of material.
  • Assemble orders and manage the movement of products to designated areas using hand trucks, pallet jacks, or hoists.
  • Document shipment details, including date and quantity, and confirm accuracy by initialing records.
  • Label crates or packages with the corresponding sales order number and report any discrepancies.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment by adhering to established procedures and regulations.
  • Utilize resources efficiently to achieve job objectives.
  • Assist in training team members on fundamental crating tasks as required.
  • Conduct inspections of completed work before passing it to subsequent operations.
  • Complete production and quality documentation as necessary.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proficient in the safe use of small hand and power tools.
  • Experience with table and band saws is essential.
  • Basic computer skills are required.
  • Ability to perform fundamental mathematical calculations and precise measurements.

Education and Experience:

  • A high school diploma, GED, or a combination of relevant work experience and skill development is required.
  • 0-1 year of experience in a manufacturing setting is preferred.

Physical Requirements: This position is classified as Medium – Heavy Physical Demand Level (PDL) according to the US Department of Labor's Dictionary of Occupational Titles.
