Job Description

As a Mechanical R&D Technician at Freeform, you will be part of a dynamic team that is pushing the boundaries of metal 3D printing technology. Your primary responsibilities will include fabrication, assembly, testing, and development of custom hardware for our advanced metal 3D printing factory systems.

You will work closely with our engineering team to ensure the smooth operation of our facility, including the setup and maintenance of critical infrastructure systems (air, water, and inert gases). Additionally, you will be responsible for organizing and improving shop operations, identifying areas for process improvement, and implementing changes to enhance efficiency and productivity.

About the Role

  • Technical Skills: Proficient in using a variety of machines and tools, including lathes, mills, bandsaws, grinders, precision drills, and wire EDMs
  • Problem-Solving: Able to read and utilize schematics (mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic) to troubleshoot systems down to the component level
  • Communication: Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Experience: 1+ years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment OR completed formal technical training such as NTMA or similar
  • Education: Basic knowledge of mechanical principles and practices
  • Certifications: A&P license, NTMA license, or similar certifications

  • Salary: Estimated salary range: $60,000 - $80,000 per year
