Correctional Counselor

We are seeking a highly skilled Correctional Counselor to join our team at the State of Tennessee Department of Correction. As a Correctional Counselor, you will be responsible for providing professional correctional counseling services to offenders, including assessing their needs, developing treatment plans, and providing individual and group counseling sessions.

• Conduct risk/needs assessments to identify offender needs and develop treatment plans
• Provide individual and group counseling sessions to offenders
• Collaborate with other correctional staff to ensure offender safety and well-being
• Monitor offender behavior and adjust treatment plans as needed
• Document offender progress and provide regular reports to supervisors

• Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as psychology, sociology, or counseling
• One year of experience in correctional counseling or a related field
• Valid driver's license
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
