Key Responsibilities
  • Procures high-impact or technically complex materials to ensure that supplies align with the Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRP) "planned order" requirements, supporting both domestic and global demand effectively.
  • Ensures that international, subsidiary, and miscellaneous demands are accurately reflected in monthly purchasing activities as dictated by the business unit's needs.
  • Oversees order placement and manages vendor delivery schedules to maintain operational efficiency.
  • Identifies potential challenges and ensures that issues such as anticipated product shortages, non-conforming materials, and excess or obsolete inventory are continuously monitored and addressed.
  • Assesses risks, formulates alternative solutions, and evaluates the impact on product delivery, presenting viable options to internal teams including sourcing and product management.
  • Manages daily vendor performance and fulfillment, evaluating contracts to ensure compliance with expectations and terms, while determining the necessity for adjustments.
  • Facilitates the development of strategic partnerships with suppliers to manage internal and vendor consigned inventories, aiming to reduce inventory ownership and lead times. Conducts inventory analysis as needed.
  • Diagnoses and analyzes quality issues, collaborating with both internal and external teams to achieve resolutions. Focuses on minimizing overall freight costs, material liabilities, and the expenses associated with material management.
  • Creates essential reports that include measurement and benchmark data to enhance purchasing and supplier management processes.
  • Reviews annual forecast plans for requirements and collaborates with planning teams to ensure inventory availability, while also participating in the management of excess and obsolete materials.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.
Education: Bachelor's degree in business administration, supply chain management, purchasing, or a related field.

Experience: Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of experience in buying or procurement within a manufacturing or consumer goods context.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to resolve complex issues and analyze potential solutions utilizing technical expertise and sound judgment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and MRP software, with the capability to generate detailed reports that illustrate quality, processes, benchmarks, and cost information for informed decision-making.
  • Strong understanding of supply chain management, production, and inventory control methodologies.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of receiving, quality assurance, engineering, and material flow processes.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, enabling effective interaction with various internal teams, external vendors, and diverse employee levels. Language requirements may vary by business unit.
  • Exceptional negotiation skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within teams.
