About the Role

The University of California, Irvine is seeking a highly skilled Pharmacy Manager II to lead our pharmacy operations team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily activities of our pharmacy staff, ensuring the provision of evidence-based and cost-effective medication dispensing, monitoring, distribution, customer service, and patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the tactical and strategic planning for pharmacy operations in coordination with the Chief Pharmacy Officer.
  • Provide leadership and oversight for training, education, and competency of pharmacy staff.
  • Recruit, hire, supervise, and evaluate pharmacy staff.
  • Ensure compliance with all Federal and State regulations, and departmental policies.
  • Develop and implement sustainable policies and procedures, provide oversight of payroll and scheduling, and provide staffing support as necessary.
  • Provide leadership and oversight for medication safety and security and for policy development and implementation.
  • Identify opportunities to improve services through the use of technology and equipment and is actively involved in departmental strategic planning, implementing cost savings strategies, and enhancing revenue opportunities.
Requirements
  • Must possess State of California Pharmacy License within 12 months of hire.
  • Must possess State of California Pharmacist License in good standing within 12 months of hire.
  • Minimum 5 years managerial experience.
  • Financial management and analysis skills consistent with budgetary responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated experience in project coordination and implementation of programs.
  • Ability to use computerized systems, applications, such as Microsoft Office, medication and safety technologies, and automated dispensing equipment.
  • Ability to read and correctly interpret complex regulations, contracts, and policies.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System.
  • Ability to apply sound judgment in ambiguous situations and effectively manage change.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior successful management experience, preferably at a large, multi-hospital organization.
  • Post-graduate residency training.
  • Knowledge and use of EPIC electronic health record.
  • Experience in a union environment.
  • An advanced administrative degree (M.S., M.H.A., M.P.H., M.B.A.).
