Our Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Chemist/Polymer Scientist to join our Polymer Science and Materials Chemistry Practice in Menlo Park, CA. As a key member of our team, you will work on a diverse range of projects, collaborating with scientists and engineers from other Exponent offices and practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Inspect, test, and analyze polymeric materials to assess their specifications and reliability in various applications.
  • Perform root cause investigations on failing or underperforming materials/components by examining their development, manufacturing, or end-use environment.
  • Analyze information and convey technical conclusions to individuals in engineering, business, law, and industry.
Requirements
  • Ph.D. in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Materials Science, or a related field.
  • Strong background and hands-on experience in polymer/chemical characterization techniques, such as FTIR, GC-MS, LC-MS, GPC, NMR, ICP-MS, ICP-OES, DSC, TGA, and DMA.
  • Knowledge of medical device testing and manufacturing standards, such as ISO 10993, ISO 13485, ISO 14971.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
