Flight Operations Second-in-Command

Position Overview:
The Flight Operations Second-in-Command is responsible for piloting B737 aircraft, ensuring the safe transportation of passengers and cargo. As the co-pilot, this role is crucial in maintaining operational safety and readiness to assume command if the Pilot in Command is unable to continue. In addition to flying duties, the Second-in-Command actively monitors all flight parameters and aircraft systems to guarantee optimal performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate B737 aircraft, adhering to all aviation protocols and regulations.
- Communicate effectively with Air Traffic Control, utilizing standard aviation language.
- Review and analyze maintenance logs, weather conditions, and Notices to Airmen (NOTAMs) to ensure informed decision-making.
- Possess comprehensive knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs), Airman Information Manual (AIM), and company-specific operational manuals.
- Calculate Performance Data and manage Weight & Balance for safe flight operations.
Work Environment:
This position is primarily conducted in the cockpit of a B737, a confined space that may experience high noise levels and varying temperatures. The role demands physical and mental resilience, particularly during challenging flight conditions or emergencies.
Physical and Mental Demands:
The job requires a combination of sedentary work and physical activity, including walking, bending, and manipulating controls. Candidates must demonstrate strength and dexterity to operate flight controls effectively. Vision must be corrected to 20/20 across various distances, and the ability to communicate clearly in English is essential.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Possession of a US DOT/FAA First Class Medical Certificate.
- US DOT/FAA Airline Transport Pilot certificate or eligibility for ATP Certification Training Program.
- A minimum of 3,000 flight hours as a pilot, with specific experience requirements.
- Ability to obtain a US DOD TS/SCI security clearance.
- Valid US state-issued Driver's License and a current US Passport or valid US Birth Certificate.
- Must be a US citizen.
- Willingness to relocate to the designated metropolitan area.
- Compliance with all relevant FAA regulations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Active US DoD TS security clearance.
- US DOT/FAA Airline Transport Pilot certificate with Multi-Engine Land rating.
- Experience flying large or high-performance aircraft.
- Familiarity with modern avionics and electronic flight bags.
