Job SummaryWe are seeking a reliable Part Time Public Transportation Operator to join our team at L.E.T.S. (Livingston Essential Transportation System). This temporary, non-union position offers a competitive starting pay rate of $19.95 per hour, with a work schedule of approximately 19 hours per week.
Key Responsibilities- Transportation Services: Safely drive L.E.T.S. vehicles to transport passengers to various destinations, providing excellent customer assistance and ensuring passenger safety and comfort.
- Logistics and Maintenance: Maintain accurate records of trips, passengers, monies collected, fuel consumption, and vehicle maintenance needs.
- Vehicle Operations: Operate ramps to assist passengers with boarding and securing their seating according to standards and guidelines.
- Vehicle Inspections: Conduct pre-inspections and post-inspections of vehicles, reporting any deficiencies or maintenance needs to the appropriate personnel.
- Cleanliness and Safety: Ensure vehicles are clean and well-maintained throughout the day or at the end of each shift.
- Incident Reporting: Record and report any incidents, injuries, or vehicle damage to the proper personnel before the end of each shift.
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required. The County may consider alternative combinations of formal education and work experience.
- A valid Michigan Commercial Driver's License (Class C) with a passenger endorsement is essential.
- Must pass a Michigan Department of Transportation physical and drug screen prior to employment.
- Must obtain a Michigan Department of Transportation Medical Examiner's certification within ten days of employment and CPR training within six months of employment.
- Possess knowledge of safe driving techniques, customer service principles, and basic math skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively and establish effective working relationships with diverse individuals, including those with special needs.
