About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and experienced diesel mechanic to join our team at RATP Dev USA. As a diesel mechanic, you will play a vital role in maintaining the safe and efficient operation of our transit system.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure the reliability and punctuality of our bus services
  • Conduct routine preventative maintenance inspections and procedures
  • Diagnose and repair complex issues with diesel engines, transmissions, and other vehicle systems
  • Perform routine maintenance on internal combustion engines, transmissions, and differential units
  • Repair and adjust seats, doors, and windows, interior and exterior trim and hardware
  • Install, diagnose, and repair/replacement of vehicle accessories
  • Emission-related diagnosis and repairs
  • Minor fabrication, welding, grinding, soldering, etc.
  • Perform service calls on vehicles and equipment
  • Assist in training of lower-level personnel
  • Perform backfill supervisory duties as required
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum of one-two years of vocational/technical schooling or equivalent work experience
  • Experience: Available classifications based upon collective bargaining agreements
  • Level C: Hiring Level
  • Level B: Must hold and maintain three ASE Truck or Transit Bus certifications along with 608/609 Air Conditioning Certification and three years of verifiable experience in heavy-duty diesel bus or truck
  • Level A: Must hold and maintain four ASE Truck or Transit Bus certifications, one of which must be test T6 or H6 electrical, along with 608/609 Air Conditioning Certification and four years of verifiable experience in heavy-duty diesel bus or truck
  • Master: Must hold and maintain ASE Certified Master Truck or Transit certification, 608/609 Air Conditioning Certification, and the ability to demonstrate proficiency in arc, mig, and gas welding along with five years of verifiable experience in heavy-duty diesel bus
  • Computer Skills: Basic computer skills with the ability to learn new programs as required
  • Certificates & Licenses: All positions require a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) class B with endorsements
  • Other Requirements: Must provide own hand tools as necessary to perform the assigned work
  • Must pass Department of Transportation (DOT) pre-employment physical and drug screening
  • No criminal convictions or DWI, DUI, assault, or possession of controlled substances within the last 5 years
