Job Title: Managing Attorney

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Managing Attorney to lead our legal team and oversee day-to-day legal operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in estate planning and probate law, with a minimum of 7-10 years of experience in a leadership or managerial role.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Team Management & Leadership: Supervise and mentor a team of one paralegal and one legal assistant, delegate tasks, and ensure timely completion of legal work.
  • Case Management: Oversee case strategies, litigation, and negotiations to ensure successful outcomes, review and approve pleadings, contracts, and legal documents.
  • Operations & Compliance: Oversee budget planning, billing practices, and financial operations for the legal team.
  • Client Relations: Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, providing expert legal advice, oversee client engagement, and ensure the highest level of service is delivered.
  • Strategic Planning: Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and implement the firm's strategic goals, identify and pursue new business development opportunities.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential legal risks and devise strategies to mitigate them, monitor ongoing litigation and legal proceedings to minimize adverse outcomes.
Requirements:
  • A solid history of attracting and retaining clients.
  • Familiarity with practice panther or other hourly tracking software.
  • Experience and ability to meet with clients face to face, via Zoom, and over the phone.
  • Experience with public presentations and ability to travel within California.
  • Advanced familiarity with estate planning and probate court procedures.

  • Familiarity with wealth docs and other Wills and Trusts drafting software.
  • Excellent people skills.
  • Well-organized and capable of multitasking.
  • Highly capable of creating an orderly, structured work environment.
  • Demonstrated excellence in quality of work product.
  • Familiarity with Salesforce, Ring Central & the Microsoft Suite is a plus.
  • Experience with litigation and discovery is a plus.
Qualifications:
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the state bar and in good standing.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of Estate Planning Experience, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership or managerial role.
  • Strong business acumen and understanding of law firm operations.
Working Conditions:
  • Full-time position with 1650 annual billables: some travel required within California.
