Key Responsibilities- Develop detailed estimates and prepare proposals in advance of bid due dates, ensuring accuracy and thoroughness.
- Participate in pre- and post-job reviews to assess project progress and identify areas for improvement.
- Analyze blueprints and technical documents to prepare estimates, considering factors such as production time, materials, and labor.
- Collaborate with engineers, architects, clients, contractors, and sales teams to prepare estimates and bids, ensuring effective communication and coordination.
- Maintain records of estimated and actual costs, providing valuable insights for future projects.
- Perform field take-offs and evaluations to prepare estimates, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
- Solicit vendor and subcontractor bids for projects, negotiating prices and terms to ensure the best value for the company.
- Review proposal specifications and drawings to determine the scope of work and required contents of estimates, ensuring clarity and accuracy.
- Maintain up-to-date and accurate job costs for future projects, enabling informed decision-making.
- Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to develop cost-effective scopes, ensuring efficient project execution.
- Oversee and direct construction projects from conception to completion, ensuring timely delivery and high-quality results.
- Interview and evaluate potential employees and subcontractors, assessing their skills and fit for the project.
- Establish a communication schedule to update stakeholders, including staff and clients, on project progress and milestones.
- Generate profit projections, estimate costs, and schedule deliverables, ensuring alignment with company goals and objectives.
- Supervise compliance with building and safety regulations, ensuring a safe and healthy work environment.
- Review the quality of work completed with the project team, ensuring it meets project standards and expectations.
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business Management, or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of 10+ years working in an estimating or project management role within the drywall/metal framing trade.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a bonus.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent (required).
- In-depth knowledge of the drywall and metal framing construction industry and entire building process, including building codes, blueprints, permits, construction equipment, material resources, construction processes, and project management principles.
- Experience using construction or project management software preferred.
- Strong communication skills, leadership skills, organizational skills, problem-solving skills, and time-management skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
