Banquet Captain

Cornell Catering is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Banquet Captain to lead the execution of small catered events, ensuring their success and representing Cornell Catering with professionalism.

• Customer Service and Communication: Demonstrate excellent customer service, communication, and professionalism when interacting with clients and staff.
• Food and Beverage Standards: Adhere to food and alcohol service standards, protocols, and health codes to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for guests.
• Operational Execution: Lead multiple facets of operational details at small events, including setup, service, and breakdown.
• Event Support: Assist in the operational execution of larger events as needed, providing support to the event team.
• Professionalism: Model professionalism when engaging with clients or providing feedback to staff, maintaining a positive and respectful attitude.

• Education and Experience: High school diploma and at least three years of experience in a catering or food service industry.
• Language Skills: Basic skills in English, including reading, writing, math, and verbal articulation.
• Communication Skills: Strong communications skills, both written and verbal, to effectively communicate with clients and staff.
• Computer Skills: Strong computer skills, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and calendar management programs.
• Physical Demands: Ability to lift and carry weight up to 50lbs and stand and walk for long periods of time.
• Driver's License: Valid NY state driver's license.

• Additional Education and Experience: Additional education and/or experience in the catering or food service industry.
• Sanitation and HACCP: Knowledge of proper sanitation and HACCP procedures.
• ServSafe Certification: ServSafe Certified.
