Position Overview
The Concrete Mixer Operator is responsible for the safe operation of a vehicle designed to produce, transport, and discharge ready-mixed concrete to meet customer specifications. The operator will receive instructions and assignments from the designated dispatcher or plant supervisor. Deliveries may involve navigating challenging and congested job sites. Work hours will vary based on customer demand. Additional responsibilities may include maintaining the cleanliness of the vehicle and plant, which may involve manual labor such as shoveling and sweeping. A minimum of a Class B CDL is required.
Key Responsibilities
The following duties and responsibilities are essential to this role:
- Operate safely and efficiently.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area and vehicle.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and operating practices.
- Utilize provided personal protective equipment as required.
- Deliver ready-mixed concrete to construction sites in compliance with applicable laws and dispatch instructions.
- Communicate effectively with the dispatcher or plant supervisor regarding deliveries and special instructions.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and report any maintenance issues.
- Handle customer transactions and maintain accurate records.
- Respond to customer inquiries regarding basic product knowledge.
- Assist with truck and plant maintenance as needed.
- Exhibit a professional demeanor towards colleagues and the public.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Consistent attendance is expected.
To be successful in this position, candidates must possess the following:
- A valid Class B CDL or the ability to obtain one upon completion of training.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred; or at least one year of relevant experience.
- Ability to read and interpret safety documents and operational instructions.
- Basic mathematical skills for handling transactions.
- Ability to manage stressful situations effectively.
- Regularly required to sit, use hands, and communicate effectively.
- Must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds frequently.
