Animal Shelter Assistant

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Animal Shelter Assistant to join our team at Greene County, OH. As a key member of our animal control team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional care and support to the animals in our shelter.

• Provide custodial care to animals, including cleaning and sanitizing feeding dishes and equipment, and maintaining the shelter area in a clean and orderly condition.
• Evaluate and care for all sheltered animals, including observing animals and shelter equipment and reporting any irregularities to the director.
• Coordinate inventories and shortages of food, supplies, and equipment with the Director.
• Organize and coordinate the services of community service workers and volunteers as assigned.
• Evaluate all impounded animals, developing lists of candidates for veterinary checks, surgery, and adoption, and for probable euthanasia.
• Assist the administrative staff with office duties, including license sales, owner releases, and redemption, adoptions, and phone and dispatch duties as assigned by the director.

• High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (G.E.D.) and 12 months of experience working and/or performing the duties to care for animals in a shelter environment.
• Valid Ohio Driver's License.

The Animal Shelter Assistant will work in a fast-paced environment with a wide range of animals, including dogs, cats, and other small animals. The position requires the ability to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

The estimated salary for this position is $14.78 per hour, based on the location and industry standards.
