EHSQ Specialist

Kemira, a global leader in sustainable chemistry, is seeking an EHSQ Specialist to support our Fontana, CA plant in achieving environmental, health, and safety excellence.

• Lead a Proactive Safety Culture: Develop and implement procedures to ensure regulatory compliance, conduct audits, and manage documents. Serve as the primary contact with local regulators for site safety and environmental compliance.
• Oversee Employee Training: Provide comprehensive training on health, safety, and environmental issues, maintaining detailed records. Inform management and employees about safety concerns and analyze new products, materials, and processes for effective hazard communication and safety procedures.
• Coordinate Incident Analysis and Response: Conduct thorough incident analysis, develop action plans to prevent reoccurrence, and maintain document control as per ISO/Corporate requirements using SharePoint. Stay updated with corporate EHSQ standards and implement improvements and training personnel on modifications.
• Manage Emergency Response and Medical Monitoring: Develop and implement the emergency response program and medical monitoring initiatives in line with corporate guidelines and the plant Integrated Contingency Plan. Develop site Industrial Hygiene protocol and supervise its execution, including coordinating the personal protective equipment program.
• Lead Waste Minimization and Behavioral Safety Programs: Focus on sustainable options and positive reinforcement. Collaborate with production teams to review and improve health, safety, environmental, and quality processes, including performing hands-on laboratory work as backup for the Senior Lab Technician when needed.
• Additional Responsibilities: Perform other duties as assigned by management.

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field (Environmental, H&S engineering, or similar) and/or equivalent experience in a chemical/manufacturing facility.
• Thorough knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and California State regulations is beneficial.
• Lab bench work capability.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including ability to write and review procedures.
• Ability to successfully time-manage in order to prioritize and complete a variety of competing tasks.
• Experience with MS office applications, including word, excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and SAP.
