Job OverviewPosition Summary:

A Registered Nurse specializing in post-surgical care is accountable for delivering comprehensive patient care through assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. This role involves prescribing, delegating, coordinating, supervising, and assessing patient education and the functions of auxiliary nursing staff while upholding the standards of professional nursing practice.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Provide both direct and indirect patient care.
  2. Ensure compliance with nursing standards and protocols.
  3. Collaborate with healthcare team members to optimize patient outcomes.

Qualifications:

A. Educational Background:

Must be a graduate from an accredited School of Nursing or equivalent program.

B. Professional Experience:

Preferred experience of at least six (6) months in a similar role.

C. Licensure and Certifications:

  • Must hold a current nursing license in the State of Texas.
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required shortly after employment.
  • Medication administration competency to be achieved within the initial weeks of employment.
  • Computer proficiency to be demonstrated within the first month of employment.
  • Completion of an Arrhythmia Recognition Course if ACLS certification is not current, within the designated timeframe.
  • AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification to be obtained within the specified period.
  • Participation in Critical Care training and assessments within the initial months of employment.
  • Phlebotomy and Point of Care Competency to be completed shortly after starting.
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) and Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification to be achieved within the first six months of employment.
