Job Overview:
The NICU Registered Nurse plays a crucial role in delivering specialized nursing care to neonates admitted to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. This position involves collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to monitor, assess, and provide necessary interventions for newborns requiring critical care due to various medical conditions, including premature birth and surgical procedures. The nurse is essential in ensuring the health and development of these vulnerable infants during their NICU stay.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assessment and Monitoring: Conduct comprehensive evaluations of neonates' physical, developmental, and psychological conditions. Vigilantly monitor vital signs, recognize changes in clinical status, and promptly report any irregularities.
  • Care Planning: Partner with the healthcare team to formulate and execute tailored care plans that address the unique needs of each neonate. Modify plans as needed while ensuring a family-centered approach.
  • Medical Interventions: Administer prescribed medications, treatments, and interventions. Monitor the effectiveness of these interventions and make necessary adjustments.
  • Equipment Management: Operate and oversee medical devices commonly utilized in the NICU, including ventilators and monitors. Ensure all equipment is functioning correctly and address any issues that arise.
  • Family Support and Education: Provide education to parents and family members regarding neonatal care and development. Offer emotional support and engage families in the care process.
  • Collaboration: Work in close coordination with neonatologists, pediatricians, respiratory therapists, nutritionists, and other healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive care. Participate in team meetings to discuss patient progress and care plans.
  • Documentation: Maintain precise and detailed medical records, including assessments, interventions, and patient responses. Ensure accurate documentation of medications and any changes in condition.

Qualifications:
  • Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) licensure.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.
  • Certification in Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) and Neonatal Intensive Care Nursing (RNC-NIC) is highly desirable.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and critical thinking abilities.
  • Ability to maintain composure in high-pressure situations.
  • Compassionate, patient-centered approach to care.
  • Prior experience in neonatal or pediatric nursing is preferred.
