About the Role

Duke Health is seeking a skilled Nurse Anesthetist to join our team at Duke Regional Hospital in Durham, North Carolina. As a key member of our perioperative team, you will be responsible for administering anesthetics to patients undergoing surgical, obstetrical, and other medical procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer general anesthetics to patients, ensuring their safety and comfort throughout the procedure.
  • Determine the necessary drugs, supplies, and equipment for each procedure, and ensure their proper functioning.
  • Monitor patients' vital signs and take necessary action to maintain a stable physiological status.
  • Prepare patients for anesthesia, explaining procedures and positioning them on the operating room table.
  • Assist in moving patients from the operating room to the recovery area, and check on them periodically to alleviate any unfavorable post-anesthesia effects.
  • Supervise and instruct student nurse anesthetists, and assist in evaluating their clinical performance and progress.
  • Maintain accurate records of each anesthetic administered, and prepare periodic reports related to activities.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited MSN or DNP or DNAP CNRA program.
  • Current RN licensure issued by or recognized by NCBON, with approval to practice as a CRNA.
  • Eligibility for certification by the AANA as a certified Nurse Anesthetist is required for new grads.
