Job Summary:
As a skilled Interventional Mammographer at Kaiser Permanente, you will operate radiology equipment to produce high-quality images of the breast, performing technical procedures in accordance with physician orders and standard techniques. Your primary focus will be on delivering exceptional patient care, developing strong relationships with patients, and ensuring their needs are met.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Operate diagnostic and specialized radiology equipment to produce high-quality images of the breast.
- Perform technical procedures in accordance with physician orders and standard techniques.
- Develop and sustain productive relationships with patients, considering their cognitive, physical, emotional, and chronological maturation process.
- Ensure patient safety in the preparation and provisioning of care related to medications, procedures, infection prevention, and fall prevention.
- Report safety hazards, accidents, and incidents promptly.
- Perform screening, diagnostic, and specialized mammography procedures.
- Instruct patients in a courteous manner regarding imaging procedures.
- Position patients and operate mammographic and radiographic equipment.
- Review images for accuracy and technical quality according to established standards.
- Repeats images as needed and submits them for interpretation by a radiologist or designee.
- Practice ALARA principles and ensure proper radiation safety practices.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Assist with procedures, such as biopsies, following established guidelines.
- Provide patient education and obtain informed consent as needed.
- Document all quality control as required for MQSA.
- Assist the radiologist with routine and complex mammography procedures, including stereotactic biopsies, needle localizations, and sentinel node injections.
Requirements:
- Minimum of one year of direct mammography experience.
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Certificate - Mammography Technologist.
- Radiologic Technologist Certification from American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
- Ability to operate diagnostic and specialized radiology equipment and perform related technical procedures.
- Critical thinking skills in a high-stress environment.
- Excellent customer service skills, with a focus on patient-centered care.

Variable mammographer position for on-call/float pool.
