About the Role

Corewell Health is seeking a skilled Certified Surgical Assistant to join our team at Wayne Hospital. As a key member of our surgical team, you will assist the surgeon in the performance of approved surgical procedures, working under the direct supervision of the operating surgeon.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the surgeon in the operating room, ensuring a safe and efficient surgical experience for patients.
  • Prepare and maintain surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies, adhering to strict sterile protocols.
  • Monitor and maintain aseptic conditions throughout the surgical procedure.
  • Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure seamless communication and coordination.
  • Participate in ongoing education and training to stay current with the latest surgical techniques and technologies.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Completion of a Surgical Tech First Assistant or Certified Surgical Assistant Program required.
  • Must receive certification as a Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA) through the NCCSA or Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) through the NBSTSA within two years of completing the first assistant course.
  • 2 years of relevant experience in surgical assisting required.
  • Certified (CST) - AST Association of Surgical Technologist, American Board of Surgical Assistants, or National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting certifications preferred.
  • AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • AHA ACLS Adv Cardiovascular Life Support certification preferred.
