Tax Manager

HORNE LLP is a leading accounting and business advisory firm seeking a highly skilled Tax Manager to join our team. As a Tax Manager, you will be responsible for managing multiple projects simultaneously, assisting with scheduling, staffing, and coordinating workflow. You will also develop and train staff, ensuring the accurate and timely completion of compliance and tax work.
Key Responsibilities:- Assume project management responsibilities, ensuring timely completion and high-quality results.
- Maintain familiarity with staff qualifications and review assignments for appropriateness.
- Monitor time budgets and lead staff in their work, providing on-the-job training and reviewing work papers.
- Anticipate problem areas and questions, keeping the Partner informed of important developments.
- Ensure tax returns and compliance returns are prepared in accordance with professional and Firm standards.
- Coordinate progress reports and inquiries with the relationship manager to keep clients updated.
- Develop responsible, trained staff by assisting in performance evaluations and preparing invoices for clients.
- Maintain knowledge of the Firm's philosophy and opinions on financial matters, as well as general economic and political trends that may affect the business climate.
- Demonstrate attention to client service and add value to clients' businesses by identifying cross-selling opportunities and following through with those opportunities or referring them to other professionals if necessary.
- Take responsibility for accuracy of data entry, accumulation, and maintenance in all aspects of the Firm's work.
- Five to seven years' experience in tax, demonstrating a progression in complexity and scope required.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in accounting required.
- CPA license preferred.
- Construction tax experience preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to lead other team members preferred.
- Minimum of forty hours of continuing professional education required each year to maintain and develop technical and business skills.
- Participate in career development programs to improve managerial, communication, and interpersonal skills.
