Emergency Department Nurse Practitioner

Job Summary
">We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse I to join our team at Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor, ME. As a key member of our Emergency Department, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality patient care and working collaboratively with our interdisciplinary team.
">About the Role
">This is a PRN position, requiring 12 hours of work per week, with variable schedules including day, evening, nights, and weekends. You will have the opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment, providing safe and effective patient care while utilizing your critical thinking skills and expertise in nursing practices.
">Responsibilities
">- Provide safe and effective patient care by using best practices during hand-off communication and when reporting patient care information and appropriately asking for assistance from other staff.
">- Demonstrate knowledge and skills in location, operation, and care of equipment.
">- Perform and document systematic assessments according to established criteria.
">- Recognize and respond to abnormal diagnostic data and report to appropriate provider.
">- Develop and maintain a professional and personable relationship and appearance with patients/ families and staff.
">- Treat patients with courtesy and respect.
">- Utilize theoretical knowledge base to operationalize care.
">- Documentation is accurate and complete reflecting adherence to hospital, regulatory and legal requirements.
">- Complete population-specific mandatory education competencies as defined by the unit-specific scope of service.
">- Provide culturally competent care to patients and families.
">- Provide patient-centered care.
">- Practice is consistent with Northern Light Health policy and procedures.
">- Communicate effectively with patients, family members, and all members of the interdisciplinary team, seeking assistance for conflict resolution as needed.
">- Implement the plan of care and identifies resources to meet patient care needs.
">- Identify and communicate changes in patient conditions that may impact unit staffing levels or the provision of safe patient care.
">- Contribute to a healthy work environment by exhibiting professional behaviors and seeks assistance in addressing interpersonal conflicts.
">- Seek assistance from colleagues in the daily care of patients on the unit.
">- Participate as a member of the interdisciplinary team to maximize patient care.
">- Utilize available resources in an appropriate manner and seeks assistance when needed.
">- Take responsibility for meeting education and mandatory programs, by completing clinical evidence-based competencies (CBO) and member-specific competencies.
">- Obtain 12 contact hours or a 3-credit professional development course or as specified by individual member organization.
">- Maintain an up-to-date personal educational file to demonstrate compliance with educational requirements.
">- Actively participates in the peer review process.
">- Demonstrates and articulates awareness of performance improvement initiatives.
">Requirements
">- BLS required.
">Preferred Qualifications
">- Word processing, spreadsheets, data entry, database experience, and other computer-related skills.
">- No previous experience required.
">Compensation and Benefits
">The estimated salary for this position is around $65,000 - $80,000 per year, depending on experience. In addition to competitive pay, we offer a range of benefits, including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
">Credentials
">- Required: Registered Nurse, BLS certification.
">Education
">- Required: High School Diploma/General Educational Development (GED).
">Working Conditions
">- Lifting, moving, and loading 30 to 50 pounds.
