Operating Engineer

At DTE Energy, we are seeking a skilled Operating Engineer to join our team in Detroit, MI. As a key member of our utility complex operations team, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining a 750 hp heat pump system and up to 500 hp gas or oil-fired low-pressure package boilers and their auxiliaries.
Key responsibilities include operating the heat pump system to supply both chilled and heated water to air handling units in adjacent buildings, starting and stopping refrigeration compressors, and adjusting various dampers and motor speeds to gain maximum efficiency of the heat pump.
You will also be responsible for operating gas or oil-fired low-pressure package boilers up to and including 600 hp and auxiliaries to maintain proper water temperatures and steam pressures to heat adjacent buildings.
Additional responsibilities include taking and testing chemical and water samples, lubricating equipment, and performing operating maintenance and annual lay-up of boilers.
As a successful candidate, you will have a First Class Refrigeration License and at least 5 years' experience in utility complex operations. You will also be required to perform shift work and be able to lift objects of up to 50 pounds in weight.
