About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Junior Controls Engineer to join our team at Wayfair. As a key member of our Controls/Software Engineering Team, you will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and implementing control systems for various projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and Development: Assist in designing, programming, and testing control systems, including PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA systems.
  • Software and Hardware Implementation: Support the development and implementation of control system software and hardware.
  • Troubleshooting and Maintenance: Conduct troubleshooting and maintenance of control systems to ensure optimal performance.
  • Collaboration and Integration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineers, project managers, and production staff, to ensure seamless integration of control systems.
  • Commissioning and Start-up: Participate in the commissioning and start-up of new control systems.
  • Technical Documentation: Assist in preparing technical documentation, including manuals, reports, and project specifications.
  • Safety and Quality Control: Provide support for the development and implementation of safety and quality control measures.
  • Industry Trends and Advancements: Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in control systems technology.
  • Electrical Schematics and Diagrams: Read and update electrical schematics and create diagrams for machines or processes.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related field.
  • Control Systems Knowledge: Basic understanding of control systems, including electrical schematics, PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA systems.
  • Programming Languages: Familiarity with programming languages such as Ladder Logic, Structured Text, or other control programming languages (AB and Siemens).
  • Problem-Solving and Communication Skills: Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with strong communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Adaptability and Willingness to Learn: Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and methodologies.
  • Previous Experience: Previous internship or project experience in control systems is a plus.
  • Field Engineering Experience: Experience 2+ years in field engineering/application material handling field.
  • Power and Control Hardware Knowledge: Knowledge of power and control hardware and mechanical design.
  • Troubleshooting and Communication Skills: Capability to troubleshoot hardware systems, components, devices, etc., with strong written, visual, and verbal communication skills.
  • Industry Standards and Familiarity: Familiarity with CEMA Standards, NFPA79, and ISO 13849.
