About the Role

Zachry Group is seeking a skilled Ironworker Helper to join our team. As an essential member of our construction crew, you will assist Journeyman Ironworkers with constructing iron/steel structures to specifications.

Responsibilities
  • IDentify all required tools and equipment for tasks.
  • Identify safety risks and take necessary precautions to mitigate them.
  • Assist with fabricating equipment according to blueprints or instructions from supervisors.
  • Hoist equipment and tools into position via bull rigging or crane.
  • Verify alignment of structural-steel members using plumb bobs, laser equipment, transits, and levels.
  • Assist with connecting columns, beams, and girders with bolts, following blueprints and instructions from supervisors.
  • Bolt aligned structural-steel members in place for permanent riveting or bolting.
  • Pull, push, or pry iron/steel equipment into approximate positions for bolting into place.
  • Cut, bend, and weld iron/steel pieces using metal shears, torches, and welding equipment.
Qualifications
  • Must have 2+ years of experience as an Industrial Ironworker Helper.
  • Must possess all required knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position.
  • Must be able to meet all physical requirements.
  • Must be able to work at heights in excess of 300 ft.
  • Must have all required tools.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
Estimated Salary

The estimated annual salary for this role is $60,000 - $80,000, based on industry standards and location.

Physical Requirements
  • Employee will be required to stand, walk, bend, squat, sit, and lift frequently.
  • Will talk and hear to communicate.
  • Will use arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, and pull objects, materials, controls, and tools.
  • May be required to pick up, lift, carry, and move up to 50lbs.
  • Will work at heights, climb ladders and stairways, and may occasionally work off of platforms/scaffolding using fall protection requirements.
  • Must be able to work in all weather conditions while wearing personal protective equipment (PPE).
