We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Math Teacher to join our team at West Bay Collaborative. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing instruction to students with special needs in a supportive and inclusive environment.
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate with special educators and subject area teachers to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and 504 plans.
- Deliver high-quality instruction to students using evidence-based teaching methods and technologies.
- Attend IEP meetings and other relevant conferences to ensure student progress and identify areas for improvement.
- Develop and implement behavioral support plans to help students with social/emotional and mental health needs succeed in school and beyond.
- Collect and analyze data to monitor the effectiveness of individualized behavioral programs.
- Communicate regularly with students, staff, and families to ensure clear expectations and outcomes.
- Provide direct support to students at-risk, helping them develop coping strategies and conflict resolution skills.
- Participate in safety-related incidents, using physical intervention when necessary, and provide support to staff and students.
- Support students in completing classroom work and achieving academic goals.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Special Education/Program Administrator.
- Certification or eligibility for certification in Secondary Math grades 7-12 from the Rhode Island Department of Education; additional certification in Special Education preferred.
- Knowledge of and experience with multiple teaching techniques and methods to modify classroom instruction.
- Experience using technology to enhance student learning.
- Relevant work experience and effectiveness with a population that exhibits challenging behaviors.
- Knowledge and understanding of health, safety, and emergency procedures in a school environment.
- Training and competency in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention or ability to successfully complete training upon being hired.
