- Competently administer medications, demonstrating knowledge of action, mode of administration, side effects, and contraindications.
- Assist physicians with diagnostic tests and procedures as required, ensuring patient safety and comfort.
- Assist with admitting, discharging, and transferring patients, maintaining accurate records and communication with healthcare team members.
- Provide leadership and guidance to colleagues, promoting a positive and supportive work environment.
- Perform core and unit-specific clinical skills, staying up-to-date with the latest medical knowledge and technologies.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to ensure seamless care coordination.
- Participate in patient and family teaching, promoting health literacy and empowerment.
- Call in medications to the pharmacist as needed, ensuring accurate and timely medication management.
- Assist in compiling information for patient charts and filing documents in a secure and confidential manner.
- Graduate from an approved school of practical nursing.
- Possess current licensure by the Missouri State Board of Nursing.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) training.
- I.V. Therapy Certification preferred.
- Previous nursing experience preferred.
- Must have the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served.
- Standing: Majority of shift spent standing.
- Walking: Considerable amount of time spent walking.
- Lifting: Must use good body mechanics to independently lift or assist with lifting/transferring a patient.
- Visual: Must have ability to read physician orders and observe patient care areas.
- Hearing: Must be able to receive/comprehend telephone calls and auscultate during physical assessment.
- Speaking: Talking is essential in communicating physician orders and addressing patient/family needs and/or requests.
