Position Overview:

The Electroencephalography Technician is responsible for conducting precise electroencephalographic (EEG) assessments and gathering relevant data essential for interpreting test outcomes, all under the supervision of a certified EEG Technologist or the Medical Director of the EEG Laboratory.

The information collected plays a crucial role for medical professionals in diagnosing and managing neurological conditions.

Part-Time - 24 hours per week, Saturday & Sunday from 0630 to 1830

EEG/Sleep Lab - affiliated hospitals

Additional Information:
Training will occur Monday through Friday during standard business hours.
Core Responsibilities:

Conducts accurate electroencephalographic testing, ensuring the absence of electrical interference (artifacts) that could compromise study reliability.

Collects and documents critical data relevant to test interpretation, including all significant occurrences, and communicates concerns to physicians.

Facilitates patient and family education by reviewing medical histories and interviewing patients to gather necessary information while explaining testing protocols.

Records patient reactions to education and instruction, obtaining any further required details.

Key Collaborations:
Patients, families, healthcare providers, management, and interdisciplinary team members.
Conducts biological and physiological quality controls (Biocals) to guarantee high-quality patient care.
Maintains and troubleshoots equipment to ensure optimal performance, while upholding a clean and safe environment for patient care.
Utilizes supplies and resources efficiently during service delivery.
Completes billing documentation for tests accurately and promptly to facilitate proper payment and reimbursement.
Integrates regulatory, legal, and ethical standards into practice to ensure compliance with established guidelines. Adheres to Intermountain policies and procedures, understanding the legal implications of care delivery.

Under the guidance of the EEG System Manager and/or the EEG System QA Coordinator, provides training and shares expertise with trainees, students, new hires, and other hospital personnel, as well as patients and their families regarding EEG procedures.

This role may be classified as a Registered EEG Technician based on the candidate's experience and qualifications.
Essential Qualifications:
Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers.
Experience in a healthcare setting through work or education.
Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
Ability to work effectively in team-oriented environments, even under stress.
Proficiency in using word processing, spreadsheet, and email applications.
Willingness to participate in the EEG on-call rotation and respond within the designated timeframe.
Preferred Qualifications:
Six months of clinical EEG experience.
Familiarity with neurodiagnostic equipment.
Current or prospective enrollment in an ABRET recognized program.

Physical Demands:
Continuous need for visual acuity to read information, labels, and assess patient needs, as well as to operate monitors and identify equipment.

Frequent interactions with patients and care providers require effective verbal communication and the ability to quickly and accurately respond to spoken information, alarms, and urgent needs, especially in emergencies.

Manual dexterity is essential for handling delicate equipment and instruments with precision. This includes computer use for documentation and medication preparation.
Expected to lift and utilize a full range of motion to assist patients. Responsibilities may include bending to retrieve and carry supplies and equipment, often involving items of varying weights.
Required to walk and assist with patient transport and distribution of supplies and equipment, including maneuvering through crowded areas.

May need to stand in a stationary position with personal protective equipment for extended periods.
