Job Summary

IMI Industrial Services Group is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Safety Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Safety Division, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with Occupational Health and Safety regulations and promoting a culture of safety within our organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of health and safety regulations, including federal, state, and local requirements, as well as industry best practices.
  • Provide training and guidance to employees on safety policies and procedures, including new hire training and refresher courses.
  • Conduct site visits to assess risks and provide solutions to mitigate hazards, ensuring a safe working environment for all employees.
  • Perform safety audits and inspections at customer sites, providing support and guidance to employees and project managers on regulatory compliance.
  • Investigate incidents and participate in the development of corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
  • Administer drug screens and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with project managers to promote a proactive safety culture and implement preventative measures.
  • Interface with customers to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of the Fall Protection Inspection Program, including equipment inspections and recordkeeping.
  • Deliver training programs on Powered Industrial Trucks and Mobile Elevated Working Platforms, including documentation and recordkeeping.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a safety-related field or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of five years' experience in a heavy or general industrial environment, preferably in construction and/or manufacturing.
  • OSHA 30 and 510/511 certifications required.
  • CPR/First Aid/AED certification required.
  • Confined Space experience required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and training skills.
  • Computer experience, including Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, Project, and Outlook.
  • Ability to work from a vehicle up to 50-60% of the time to perform jobsite evaluations and incident investigations.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
Work Environment/Physical Demands
  • Standing or walking for long periods of time.
  • Use arms and hands to reach for, handle, or manipulate objects.
  • Lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds; occasionally lift items weighing more than 50 pounds with assistance.
  • Climb up and down ladders, scaffolds, and other objects.
  • Stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl.
  • Must be able to work indoors and outdoors, including times of inclement weather.
  • Must be able to remain in a seated position for long periods of time.
  • Manual dexterity needed for repetitive tasks and operating standard operating equipment.
