Position Overview

As a Civil Project Engineer at Olsson, you will leverage your extensive knowledge of engineering principles across a diverse range of assignments and related disciplines. This role involves overseeing and guiding engineering projects, focusing on critical objectives, innovative concepts, and policy matters. You will supervise, coordinate, and evaluate the work of engineers and technicians while tackling complex assignments that necessitate the development of new and enhanced techniques and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develops planning and design documentation in the relevant engineering discipline.
  • Conducts design calculations, prepares cost estimates, and performs economic analyses for alternative comparisons.
  • Assists in defining project scope and schedules; aids in the completion of initiation documentation and budget assessments.
  • Coordinates with various Olsson teams; manages design components of projects; directs team members on design responsibilities; maintains comprehensive project records; communicates progress and challenges to project managers; engages with clients; participates in client meetings.
  • Supports marketing and business development efforts; may contribute to proposal writing.
  • May take on project management responsibilities for smaller projects.
  • Independently handles assignments on intricate projects.
  • Oversees the work of assistant and associate professionals and technical staff; may supervise interns or technical personnel.

Essential Qualifications:
  • Excellent communication abilities.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.
  • A minimum of 6 years of relevant Civil Engineering experience.
  • Registered Professional Engineer.
  • Expertise in site layout, grading, utility design, erosion control, and regulatory compliance.
  • Familiarity with Civil 3D software.
