Position Overview:
Thales is seeking a Senior Technical Field Engineer responsible for the installation, site acceptance, customer training (both on-site and in the factory), as well as system troubleshooting and restoration.
In this capacity, you will gather and report on technical issues faced by customers, perform analyses of reported problems, collect relevant information, and provide solutions to customer inquiries. You will develop and implement resolution strategies and make informed decisions to support these efforts.
Key Responsibilities:
Must be willing to travel to customer sites within the U.S. and internationally to oversee and facilitate the successful installation, implementation, and operation of systems tailored for each customer account.
Accountable for the installation of Navigation Aid products and systems (including ILS, DME, VOR, TACAN) produced by the organization and sold to military and commercial clients in the U.S. and abroad.
Additionally, this position will support Flight Checks, provide on-the-job training, and assist in resolving any post-sale field issues related to equipment performance.Responsible for product testing (Production Acceptance or Factory Acceptance Test), troubleshooting, and repair of systems within the factory when not engaged in fieldwork.
The Field Engineer will collaborate directly with construction prime contractors, airport authorities, and users to ensure the correct installation and operation of systems designated for the intended customer, working independently or as part of a team that may include contractors and subcontractors.
Provide ongoing technical support to assist customers post-installation through email and phone communications to diagnose and resolve reported technical issues.
Engage with engineering, customer service, and program teams to provide site-specific insights and feedback on improvements. Promote a culture of safety.Minimum Qualifications:
Must be a U.S. Person as defined by applicable law. Must be authorized or eligible for authorization to access hardware, software, technology, or technical data controlled under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or the Export Administration Regulations (EAR).
Prior hands-on experience (3-5+ years) in installing Navigation Aid products and systems (including ILS, DME, VOR, TACAN) or similar aviation-related electronic systems.
Possess strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to apply logic and theory to resolve issues, and demonstrate patience in finding solutions to complex problems.
Experience managing multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment. Experience providing on-the-job training to customers and mentoring junior field service engineers and technicians.Ability to adapt to changing requirements and effectively track and report status on established schedules.
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field with a minimum of 5-8+ years of relevant work experience, or a Master's degree in the field with 4+ years of relevant work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, including FAA/Military experience in lieu of civil education.
Emphasis in radio/RF is a definite advantage.Special Position Requirements:

- Standard 5-day/40-hour workweek or 9/80 Alternate Work Schedule available with flexible start/stop times depending on assignment volume.
Travel:
Anticipated to include up to 75% travel to U.S. and international destinations.
Customer Location Based or Site Visits:
Installation and servicing occur on customer sites.
