Job Summary
The Medical Assistant - Patient Care Specialist provides high-quality patient care and support services as part of the patient medical care team at Atrium Health. This role involves patient rooming, collecting vital signs, point of care testing, and documentation in the electronic medical record (EHR). The Medical Assistant also maintains patient flow, stocks exam rooms, assists with procedures and treatments, and communicates effectively with healthcare providers and patients.
Responsibilities
- Provides patient care and support services, including patient rooming, vital sign collection, and point of care testing.
- Maintains patient flow and stocks exam rooms to ensure efficient patient care.
- Assists with procedures and treatments, and communicates effectively with healthcare providers and patients.
- Documents patient information in the electronic medical record (EHR) accurately and efficiently.
- Collaborates with the healthcare team to ensure high-quality patient care and support services.
Requirements
- Medical Assisting diploma/certificate from a nationally recognized accredited institute or program.
- Graduate from an accredited practical nursing program with valid GA license (LPN), or successful completion of a formal medical services training program of the United States Armed Forces.
- 1-2 years of verifiable Medical Assisting work experience, or current certification as a Medical Assistant (MA) from a nationally recognized and accredited certifying body.
Certifications
- American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) certification as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA).
- American Medical Technologists (AMT) certification as a Registered Medical Assistant (RMA).
- National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) certification as a National Certified MA (NCMA).
- National Health Career Association (NHA) certification as a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA).
