Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator to join our team at the City of Zephyrhills. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective treatment of wastewater at our 3.85 MGD Wastewater Treatment Plant.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate and maintain the wastewater treatment plant, including sampling and testing of wastewater streams and processes.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as cleaning and inspecting equipment, and making repairs as needed.
  • Monitor and control the treatment process to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and optimal plant performance.
  • Collaborate with other team members to achieve plant goals and objectives.
  • Participate in emergency response and maintenance activities as needed.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
  • Valid State of Florida Class B CDL driver license with airbrake endorsement required.
  • Must have knowledge of Work Zone Safety practices and possess a valid State of Florida Class B CDL driver license with airbrake endorsement, or obtain within six (6) months of employment.
  • Trainee: A background in wastewater collection and lift station based pumping systems is desirable. Must obtain a State of Florida Department of Environmental Protection Class C Wastewater Operator's license within eighteen (6) months of employment.
  • C License: Possess a State of Florida Department of Environmental Protection Class C Wastewater Operator's license. Supplemented by one (1) year of documented experience in water or wastewater treatment operations.
  • B License: Possess a State of Florida Department of Environmental Protection Class B Wastewater Operator's license. Supplemented by three (3) years of documented experience at the full performance level in wastewater treatment operations.
  • A License: Possess a State of Florida Department of Environmental Protection Class A Wastewater Operator's license. Supplemented by five (5) years of documented experience at the full performance level in wastewater treatment operations.
