Job Title: Water Resources Engineer - FEMA Risk MAP MT-2

As a member of the Water Resources team at CDM Smith, you will contribute to the company's mission by performing a variety of routine technical tasks that will provide experience and familiarization with CDM Smith's engineering methods, practices, standards, and company programs. You will use prescribed methods to perform specific and limited portions of broader assignments, working under direct supervision and receiving specific and detailed instructions as to required tasks and expected results.

Job duties will involve helping to oversee a team to complete tasks associated with floodplain mapping and floodplain management, hydrology and hydraulics, and project reviews of FEMA Letters of Map Revision. This will include providing oversight, guidance, and upholding quality standards.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine technical tasks to gain experience and familiarization with CDM Smith's engineering methods and practices.
  • Use prescribed methods to perform specific and limited portions of broader assignments.
  • Work under direct supervision and receive specific and detailed instructions as to required tasks and expected results.
  • Help oversee a team to complete tasks associated with floodplain mapping and floodplain management, hydrology and hydraulics, and project reviews of FEMA Letters of Map Revision.
  • Provide oversight, guidance, and uphold quality standards.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental, Civil, Coastal, or Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Certification as an Engineer in Training (EIT) or passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam in states where an EIT is not obtainable (within 18 months of hire or promotion or transfer).
  • 5 years of related experience.
  • Domestic and/or international travel may be required.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with water resources issues related to floodplain modeling and management, hydraulic modeling, and in-stream and civil design.
  • Data management and analysis skills using standard platforms.
  • Familiarity with HEC RAS, HEC-HMS, and/or other common H&H modeling platforms, ArcGIS, and design platforms such as AutoCAD.
  • Excellent writing, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Certified Floodplain Manager.
  • Professional Engineering License.
