Job Title: Preschool Director

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Preschool Director to lead our Preschool and After School Program at Safari Kid - Irvington. As the driving force behind our educational and nurturing environment, you will play a pivotal role in shaping young minds and creating a safe and engaging space for children to learn and grow.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the preschool and after-school program, ensuring a safe, nurturing, and stimulating educational environment.
  • Implement a high-quality curriculum that complies with state and federal guidelines and supports the developmental needs of children.
  • Hire, train, and supervise teachers and support staff, providing ongoing professional development and performance evaluations.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with families, conducting regular communication and organizing family engagement activities.
  • Monitor and maintain licensing requirements, accreditation standards, and safety regulations to ensure full compliance.
  • Manage the center's budget, including the allocation of funds for supplies, equipment, and staff salaries.
  • Create and implement policies and procedures that support the health and well-being of all children and staff members.
  • Analyze program data to assess performance, identify areas for improvement, and implement strategies that enhance the quality of the center's services.
  • Foster a culture of inclusivity and diversity, ensuring that all children have access to equal opportunities for learning.
Requirements:
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in early childhood education settings.
  • At least 3 years of director-level or administrative experience in a preschool or school-age program.
  • Child Care Center Directors are preferred to have a BA in Early Childhood development but may also qualify in one of the following ways:

12 ECE units covering Child Development; Child, Family, and Community; and preschool curriculum.

Plus 3 units of Administration of Preschool

Plus 4 years of teaching experience* in a licensed daycare facility

OR

A.A. in Child Development or ECE

Plus 3 units of Administration of Preschool

Plus 2 years of teaching experience in a licensed daycare facility

OR

B.A. in Child Development or ECE

Plus 3 units of Administration of Preschool

Plus 1 year of teaching experience* in a licensed daycare facility

OR

Program Director or Site Supervisor Permit from Dept. of Teacher Credentialing
