Position Overview

The role involves conducting thorough evaluations, analyses, and reporting on Navy Federal's operational risks, quality assurance, service delivery, and control measures. The objective is to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness while minimizing risks and addressing operational and regulatory weaknesses. Responsibilities include developing, leading, and approving comprehensive risk assessment initiatives to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, industry standards, and internal operational protocols. The incumbent will also maintain and revise Operational Risk procedural documentation, job aids, and tools.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement specialized risk assessment projects.
  • Collaborate with management and staff to refine risk assessment scope.
  • Identify potential business risks and operational deficiencies, proposing improvement strategies.
  • Collect and analyze data, presenting findings and recommending risk mitigation and process enhancement solutions.
  • Lead and provide expertise in the administration of specialized risk assessment and testing lifecycles for operational effectiveness and regulatory compliance.
  • Drive initiatives aimed at improving operational efficiency and risk management processes.
  • Prepare and deliver summaries and reports on operational and regulatory risk assessments to management.
  • Maintain effective communication with various business units to address errors and implement corrective actions.
  • Oversee and report on internal and external audit activities.
  • Build and maintain productive relationships with management to monitor risk assessment progress and address key issues.
  • Assist in determining corrective actions for significant breaches of laws or policies.
  • Mentor and coach junior staff members.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on operational risk methodologies and effective control solutions.
  • Ensure proper documentation retention for risk assessments, including data, scope, results, and corrective actions.
  • Identify training needs and assist in the development of junior staff.
  • Formulate optimal data testing strategies for effective risk detection and analysis.
  • Update and develop Operational Risk policies and procedures.
  • Interpret relevant federal and state regulations impacting business operations.
  • Analyze the implications of regulatory changes and recommend policy adjustments.
  • Serve as the primary contact and expert in meetings and projects focused on process and control improvements.
  • Deliver presentations on industry and regulatory developments to management and staff.
  • Perform additional duties as required.
