Job Summary

In 2018, Freedom Outboard embarked on a revolutionary journey to create a sleek and natural outboard motor that can function in any location or condition. As a key member of our team, the Assembly Mechanic will play a crucial role in the fit and assembly of our proprietary engines, shipping and receiving, and supporting our operations team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assemble motors and subassemblies of motor parts
  • Read and analyze blueprints and specifications
  • Modify blueprints by hand, if needed, and communicate changes to Project Management and Engineering
  • Inspect fabricated details against blueprint tolerances to verify conformance
  • Examine fabricated and purchased components for fit, form, and function when assembling
  • Makes alterations to fabricated and purchased components, as needed, utilizing tool room equipment
  • Assemble fabricated and purchased components quickly and accurately
  • Lay out hole locations and drill and tap holes on parts for assembly
  • Align components for assembly and bolt, screw, and dowel parts together
  • Qualify all motions for alignment, tolerance, repeatability, and function based on customer specifications
  • Debug motors and logic functionality
  • Maintain stock inventory
  • Assist in the test process of the motors
  • Responsible for proper packaging and shipping of the motors
  • Required to travel
  • Maintain a clean work area
  • Observe safety procedures, including wearing proper hearing and vision protection and safety footwear
Requirements
  • High School degree or GED with 2-5 years' work experience as a Machinist and/or Tool Maker
  • Assembly experience preferred
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered
  • Mechanical aptitude is a must
Working Conditions

The work environment is moderate, with occasional exposure to noise and vibrations. The Assembly Mechanic will be required to sit, use hands to handle objects, reach with hands and arms, and talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
