Police Officer

As a Police Officer with the City of Belen, you will play a vital role in maintaining public safety and upholding the law. This is a challenging and rewarding position that requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

• Patrol assigned areas to prevent and detect crime, and to enforce traffic laws and regulations.
• Respond to emergency calls and provide assistance to the public as needed.
• Conduct investigations and gather evidence to support the prosecution of offenders.
• Collaborate with other law enforcement agencies and community organizations to promote public safety and well-being.
• Develop and maintain effective relationships with the public, including residents, business owners, and other stakeholders.

• High school diploma or equivalent required; certification from the New Mexico Law Enforcement Academy is also required.
• Two years of patrol experience preferred.
• Ability to pass a background check and meet the physical demands of the job.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent exposure to stress and trauma. The employee must be able to lift and move heavy objects, and must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions.
