Industry Context: The energy storage sector is rapidly evolving. Recent years have seen supply chain challenges and notable safety incidents related to lithium-ion batteries, leading to increased costs and diminished trust in the technology. Alsym is pioneering a unique proprietary aqueous battery technology designed to rival leading lithium-ion batteries, offering a more cost-effective solution with built-in non-flammability.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant industry experience, showcasing success in equipment commissioning, process development, or chemical scale-up
  • Proficiency with manufacturing technologies and equipment at the plant scale
  • A hands-on approach to troubleshooting process and equipment challenges
  • Preferred experience with industrial powder and separation technologies (e.g., sieves, spray dryers, milling)
  • Basic knowledge of statistics, control charts, and/or statistical process control is advantageous
  • Familiarity with standard battery production processes and equipment, such as slot-die coaters and slurry handling, is a plus

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the scale-up initiatives for manufacturing processes of active materials
  • Define, size, and design pilot-scale manufacturing equipment
  • Commission and validate new prototype manufacturing machinery
  • Create process control plans, standard operating procedures, and necessary documentation to establish a mature manufacturing process
  • Conduct practical experiments in the laboratory using prototype materials to inform scale-up strategies
