Diagnostic Pathologist Position

We are seeking a highly skilled Diagnostic Pathologist to join our team at the University of California, Davis. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing diagnostic services in the California Animal Health & Food Safety Laboratory System (CAHFS) and Department of Pathology Microbiology & Immunology, School of Veterinary Medicine.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Function as a diagnostic pathologist in the CAHFS laboratory, providing diagnostic services for a variety of livestock, avian, and wildlife species.
  • Interact with veterinarians, owners, and livestock producers to provide diagnostic services and communicate results.
  • Conduct research using diagnostic case material, including publication of results in appropriate journals.
  • Teach and mentor students, including local residents and graduate students.
  • Participate in university and public service through departmental, school, and university committee work, professional organizations, continuing education, and other activities.
Requirements:
  • DVM or equivalent degree with experience in mammalian/avian diseases.
  • Board certification or eligibility for board certification by the American College of Veterinary Pathologists (ACVP) or European College of Veterinary Pathologists (ECVP).
  • Demonstrated ability in diagnostic anatomic pathology and applied research.
  • Demonstrated experience in diagnostic disciplines, disease investigation, and diagnostic interpretation.
  • Knowledge of quality assurance, molecular diagnostics, and bacteriology.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Advanced degree in veterinary pathology or related field.
  • Knowledge of quality assurance, molecular diagnostics, and bacteriology.
