Highway Environmental Specialist

Serve as a critical member of our team in the Highway Environmental Unit at the North Carolina Department of Transportation.
This role involves working on a wide range of projects, from designing and reviewing sedimentation and erosion control plans to coordinating with other units and private engineering firms. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of current Erosion and Sedimentation Control practices, hydraulic design, and stormwater management.
The successful candidate will be able to read and interpret engineering plans and drawings, communicate technical information to both engineering and non-engineering backgrounds, and demonstrate an understanding of general concepts, practices, and theories used in construction stormwater management.
Earn a competitive salary of $54,197 - $94,844 annually, plus enjoy a comprehensive benefits package that includes health insurance options, standard and supplemental retirement plans, and paid vacation and sick leave.
To qualify for this position, applicants must have a Bachelor's degree in an applicable field of engineering and relevant work experience. Registration as a professional engineer by the North Carolina Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors is also required.
