Job Title: LPN - Santa Fe, NM, United States

We are seeking a highly skilled Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our team at the Santa Fe County Corrections Division, Medical Services. As an LPN, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the nursing process.

Job Summary:

The LPN will work in a team with Registered Nurses to contribute to the nursing assessment, initiate the admission process, and assist with the identification of recurrent health problems, symptoms, and behavioral changes of patients. The successful candidate will collect pertinent data through observation, interview other members of the healthcare team, and communicate changes in patient condition to other patient care providers.

Responsibilities:
  • Contribute to the nursing assessment and care planning
  • Initiate the admission process and assist with the identification of recurrent health problems, symptoms, and behavioral changes of patients
  • Collect pertinent data through observation and interview other members of the healthcare team
  • Communicate changes in patient condition to other patient care providers
  • Record all data obtained through assessment in the patient's health record
  • Assist with patient healthcare and participate in multi-disciplinary care conferences
  • Count CDS drugs and contraband, if required
  • Transcribe and post all therapeutic orders generated by the physician
  • Initiate and document prescribed treatments for nursing interventions in compliance with policy and procedure
  • Administer routine and/or PRN medications as ordered
  • Practice universal precautions when providing nursing procedures
  • Assist in maintaining a neat, clean, and safe environment for patients and coworkers
Requirements:
  • Graduate from a Licensed Practical Nursing Program
  • Currently licensed as a Practical Nurse in the State
  • Ability to effectively interact with others; communicate verbally; react quickly and appropriately to emergency situations
Working Conditions:

The LPN will work in a detention center setting with frequent standing, walking, sitting, bending, lifting (25 lbs. max.), and dragging up to 175 lbs. The incumbent will be subject to random pat-down searches and may be required to work evening and weekend hours.
