Job Title: Environmental Health and Safety Specialist

Job Summary:
The Environmental Health and Safety Specialist will be responsible for ensuring the health, safety, and environmental functions of a manufacturing facility are in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This includes spearheading actions to assure the plant complies with all relevant regulations and rules, including those related to occupational health and safety.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement strategies to engage employees in health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures.
  • Investigate environmental incidents and spills, including completing investigations to determine root-cause and closure activities.
  • Identify and facilitate appropriate environmental training.
  • Advise plant management of safety-related situations and participate in the plant safety committee.
  • Oversee regulatory agency inspections and conduct safety and environmental orientation programs.
  • Maintain first aid for the facility and provide first aid treatment of on-the-job injuries or illnesses.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest health, safety, and environmental policies, procedures, and equipment.
  • Prepare and maintain an evacuation plan and train employees in its use.
  • Collaborate with the regional workers' compensation claims administrative team, third-party administrator, and attorneys to manage open workers' compensation claims.

Requirements:
  • 1+ years of EHS manufacturing experience, preferably in the automotive industry.
  • 1+ years of safety training in a manufacturing environment.
  • Health and safety, occupational safety, and workers' compensation experience preferred.
  • Safety team or HR experience a plus.
  • Hands-on experience investigating all HSE complaints/issues.
  • Must have OSHA and TOSHA regulations knowledge.
