About the Role:

Soliant Education is seeking a qualified Special Education Teacher to join our team in a dedicated middle school resource classroom. As a Special Education Teacher, you will play a vital role in empowering middle school students with diverse learning needs to reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with general education teachers to develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to the specific needs of middle school students in a resource classroom setting.
  • Utilize a variety of evidence-based instructional strategies and differentiated learning approaches to address a range of learning disabilities and academic challenges faced by middle school students.
  • Provide direct instruction in core academic subjects, such as reading, math, language arts, science, and social studies, with a focus on closing learning gaps and promoting academic success.
  • Integrate social-emotional learning (SEL) strategies into the classroom environment to foster emotional well-being, self-advocacy skills, and positive peer relationships among students.
  • Collaborate with parents, specialists, and school staff to ensure a cohesive approach to supporting each student's academic and social-emotional development.
  • Monitor student progress, analyze data, and report on the effectiveness of instructional strategies to inform ongoing learning plans.
  • Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes student engagement, motivation, and a love for learning.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current on best practices in special education for middle school students.

Requirements:

  • Illinois State Teaching License with a valid endorsement in Special Education - Learning Disabilities or a related field.
  • Prior experience working with middle school students with learning disabilities in a resource classroom setting is highly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of child development and learning theories as they apply to middle school students with diverse learning needs.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement effective individualized education programs (IEPs) aligned with state and federal standards.
  • Excellent classroom management and instructional skills to create a positive and engaging learning environment for middle school students.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with students, parents, and school staff.
  • Proficiency in data collection, analysis, and reporting on student progress.
  • A passion for helping students with learning disabilities overcome challenges and reach their full potential.
