Job Title: Direct Support Professional

Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Direct Support Professional to join our team. As a Direct Support Professional, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with developmental disabilities in their daily lives, assisting with care of dietary, hygiene, grooming, and dressing needs, and redirecting behaviors with various activities as needed.

Responsibilities:
  • Provides support to program participants that meets their needs, provides opportunities for community involvement, and promotes independence.
  • Must be familiar with the Residential Service Guidelines issued by the Developmental Disabilities Administration.
  • Ensures that the daily needs of the participants are met, including personal hygiene, food preparation, house cleaning, shopping, and monitoring of health needs, including supervision of medication.
  • Assists participants with regularly accessing the community to take part in a variety of outings of the participants' choosing.
  • Promotes and safeguards each participant's ability to make decisions and to freely exercise his or her rights.
  • Attends staff meetings as required by the House Manager or the Site Supervisor and/or Administrator.
  • Attend training required by the agency, DDA, and other parties.
  • Takes part in the development and implementation of the IISP for each participant with whom they work.
  • Must enroll and complete Nurse Delegation study course and take the test within 30 days of employment.
  • Provides necessary support and supervision of participants.
  • Maintains professional working relationships with other services providers, the participants' parents/relatives/guardians, and other agency staff.
  • Responsible for timely completion of all documentation, including, but not limited to, the medication log, shift notes, progress notes, data sheets, incident reports, and client financial records.
Requirements:
  • Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
  • Minimum Experience: Personal experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities with challenging behaviors strongly preferred.
  • Minimum Driving Experience: Must have a valid in-state driver's license and be able to provide current car insurance.
